Convensia Convention Center
The Largest Public, Private, Partnership
Songdo, Republic of Korea
Songdo IBD is one of Asia’s free economic zones (FEZ) to promote trade and manufacturing around the Pacific Rim. As part of the largest private sector development in the world, the Gale Company and Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects were engaged by the Government of the Republic of Korea to master plan, design and build the main governmental, cultural and business facilities for a new city of 250,000 residents located adjacent to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport. With the utility and transportation infrastructure in place, the first phases of above-ground construction include 25,000 housing units, the convention center, three hotels, two shopping malls and other retail outlets.
Conventional Wisdom prepared the facility program for the Songdo Convensia Convention Center, participated in the master plan and design efforts, and assisted the FEZ in developing the operational and marketing plans.
